how much does a publicist for R&B and soul cost?

ours is $500 to $2,500 a month with a 3-month minimum, $1,500 to $7,500 for a release. the fee is set by the size of the campaign and given to you in writing before you start. a single announcement on its own is the press release.

what do R&B and soul outlets ask for?

SoulTracks asks for a picture, the music and a one-sheet, two weeks before you want the story to run. SoulTracks says it covers 2 or 3 submissions a day. SoulBounce takes music and press releases at one address, and asks not to be added to mailing lists. KJLH asks for a registered ISRC code on every song it considers. The Drop 104.7 takes up to three clean-version songs and reviews submissions about once a month.

when should the campaign start?

2 to 3 months before the release date. the first weeks go to the list and the release, and the outlets that publish a lead time ask for music two weeks to three months ahead.
