how to get press for your music.

four things, in order: a press page a writer can use, a press release, a list of outlets that cover your genre, and one pitch to each, written for that outlet. then read each outlet's own submission rules and follow them exactly. the rules of the ones that publish theirs are below.

by Studio Raine, a music PR firm in New York. we sell some of what this guide describes, and our own prices are marked as ours.

questions.

how do I get my music reviewed?

send the record to outlets that review your genre, the way each one asks to receive it, ahead of its deadline, with a press release and a link to hear it. the table on this page lists outlets that publish those rules.

should I pay for a review?

a paid review is an advertisement, and the FTC's Endorsement Guides say a paid connection should be disclosed. it does not count toward a Wikipedia article either: Wikipedia's music guideline excludes advertising and reprinted press releases.

how much does it cost to have someone do this?

a single announcement is $500 with us. the full three-month version is $500 to $2,500 a month.
